When I started this blog back in January I believe I mentioned my blog commitment issues. I am not good about updating on a regular basis, and I don’t like being long winded, especially if I haven’t written anything in a while. So I figured a photo blog posting pictures from whenever and wherever (as compared to posting about what has most recently happened) was a good way to compromise.
Well, I was right. My last post was about me training for the John Muir Trail back in…July…. :S Since then I did a 5 day trip and the JMT itself. And I took a lot of pictures.
I’ll sum up my life since my last post in a paragraph: After Pt. Reyes my friend Nigel and I did a 5 day stint in Desolation Wilderness west of Tahoe. It was a good trip and a good intro to the Sierras. A week after we got back we left for the JMT with Matt (the bf) and a couple of other friends. It was absolutely beautiful. However, I was sick for about half of the trip either for the first few days with altitude sickness or after the halfway point with a urinary tract infection. It got so bad that I had to quit the trail with 4 days to go. Luckily I got out ok (tagging along with a different group of backpackers so that my friends could finish) and saw a doctor and am now cured! I’ll just have to go back next year and finish the trail! I moved back home with my mom but got a part time job in the bay at REI (BEST RETAIL JOB EVER) that starts in a few weeks so I’ll couchsurf for a little while working and looking for more work. I absolutely refuse to be one of those college graduates who lives with their parents for overly long! I’m really stoked about moving to the San Jose area since I have a lot of friends down there. Plus, there is SO MUCH to do! Academy of sciences, SF giants, lots of hiking trails, and dim sum anyone?
That’s about it in a nutshell. Now on to the pictures. I’ll post a few from the JMT here, but in my copious amounts of free time since my return, I’ve managed to post all of my backpacking pictures (or at least the ones I don’t mind sharing) on my Flickr account. They’re filed under my collections “after college.” So have a look! I also upgraded to a pro account and with my unlimited space I’m uploading all of my photos-even the ones from high school! All of my favorites are in sets open to the public, and as we speak I’m uploading photos from my 4 months in Bordeaux. Yippee! Of course, I will continue to post (hopefully with a higher frequency as I transition into the real world with a more consistent schedule) on here with whatever I feel like. I mean, blogging really shouldn’t be an obligation. (I’ll confess it’s taken me a week or so to work up to getting this post out, but I feel that is a consequence of the large amount of time since the last one. Hopefully that will abate.)
