Matt and I took a getaway weekend to the town of Pt. Arena in Mendocino County last weekend. We had fabulous weather and it was a good balance of getting away and relaxation. We didn’t do anything I couldn’t do with my recovering knee, but there wasn’t a lot that I was missing. I’m not going to give a long narrative (I’ll let the photos speak for themselves) but we stayed at the Wharfmaster’s Inn in Arena Cove, visited the Pt. Arena Lighthouse, ate at the chowder house next to the inn and at the bakery along main street.

Yesterday we had the most glorious weather- it was bursting with spring! It reminded me of a backpacking trip we took last March to Henry Coe State Park; the park was absolutely gorgeous! Here’s one of my favorites 🙂
Brief news update: Most of my photos for the next few months will be from the archives as I’m having surgery in a week and a half for a torn ligament in my knee and torn cartilage in my hip. Both of these problems were long term issues that can be fixed (aka I should have done this sooner). While I’ll be a bit laid-up for a while, I’m hoping I’ll be able to have a better standard of living when I’m well. So here’s to the future! Plus, it’ll be a good opportunity to really manage all of my photos like I’ve said I was going to do! 😛
Happy spring everyone!
Over the holidays we went and visited Matt’s family in Salinas and took a day trip down the coast to the Big Sur area. We stopped at Andrew Molera State Park for a couple of hours and enjoyed where the Big Sur River exits to the Sea.
More specifically, passerine birds from that Marin monitoring gig, since I just posted some passerine (white and golden-crowned sparrows, Say’s phoebe, etc.) photos from the Mountain View location. These are fun!
